Centre for Rural Agriculture and Development Studies

The Organisation:      CenRADS – is a centre of studies by experts, students and the inquisitive minds on the agricultural potentials, production, marketing, consumption and entrepreneurial skills of the rural people of the developing world.

The organisation seeks to understand the socio-economic, geographical ecological and structural characteristics that differentiate between the ruralite communities from the urbanite and cosmopolitan types. In so doing, CenRADS aims to ascertain the dynamics of rural – urban transformation, rural – urban drift and the vectors of the rural – rural and rural – urban development phenomena in the third world.

The central focus of CenRADS is the RURAL AREA with bi – focal arms, namely: Rural Agriculture and Rural Infrastructure. Interestingly we assert that the two arms are not synonymous with each other as experience has shown that certain rural areas of agriculturally active people may lack infrastructural facilities (schools, roads, pipe-born water, electricity, hospital and modern roads) and be characterized by poor living standards. CenRADS is interested in understanding the reason for the differences between the two arms and seeks to research into ways by which rural agriculture can bring improvement in the standards of living and socio – economic well being of the rural people and the infrastructural development of the rural areas of the world.
